I have an ancestor who was born in the US but his baptism and marriage certificate (both from churches in Chicago) are in Czech and use the names Vaclav and Wenceslas. His English name was James. I think it odd that they would have used different Czech names on these documents. Any ideas? I have another ancestor named William who turns up on a census record as Vaclav (also born in US) so I had assumed Vaclav meant William. None of the other family names are in Czech. Since census records are often built with data from neighbors, etc., I find it interesting that only one family member was given a Czech name at this time?
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03714089400134989912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867672851903497494.post-37504345610961232712022-02-06T08:44:26.975-08:002022-02-06T08:44:26.975-08:00My gr-grandmother was born Eva but I have records ...My gr-grandmother was born Eva but I have records of her going by Emma, Emily, Emilie and Eva.thebutterflyswinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05113820698621101948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867672851903497494.post-7968714822149800372021-12-10T21:40:36.016-08:002021-12-10T21:40:36.016-08:00my cousin lumir is no longer with usmy cousin lumir is no longer with usAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03387053575598221078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867672851903497494.post-73895274765931964992021-12-10T21:34:45.346-08:002021-12-10T21:34:45.346-08:00i have a cousin named Lumir...he is czech....lived...i have a cousin named Lumir...he is czech....lived near dorchester, crete and wilber nebraska...i wish i had found this site years back....
Thank You
markAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03387053575598221078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867672851903497494.post-10756580797019589602021-08-14T10:37:22.913-07:002021-08-14T10:37:22.913-07:00where's Benjaminwhere's BenjaminAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16331185755190122614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-867672851903497494.post-54755202206514204882021-06-27T12:54:50.704-07:002021-06-27T12:54:50.704-07:00My great great grandparents lost a child in 1884 a...My great great grandparents lost a child in 1884 at a young age.
