ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I noticed the "robota" requirements .... an important reality for our ancestors. As I understand it, that was finally eliminated in reality after the 1848 revolutions in Central Europe .... and that's when my ancestors left the area near Domazlice and headed for Bremen and a ship to New York and then Manitowoc, Wisconsin in about 1853. Thanks for this wonderful insight into that farm life of my family members.... and so many others too!
